2018/ MMI/ AMBASSADOR OF LUCIDE DREAMING

2018/ MMI/ EMBASSY OF LUCID DREAMING
Ongoing artistic Project
I practice lucid dreaming since I am nine years old.
This way of dreaming has shaped my entire way
of thinking. I would even go so far as to say lucid
dreaming encourages critical cognition.
The dreamer has to question everything that
surrounds him to unmask the dream as such.
He refuses to accept his environment as given and
immutable. Based on this perception it is possible
to influence the course of one‘s dreams.
The dreamer breaks free from his passive position.
From my point of view today this way of thinking
is more important than ever. It fosters our
differentiation between reality, fiction, fantasy,
and propaganda.
Since 2018 I work with dreams in my artistic
practice intensely. I founded the embassy of lucid
dreaming and brought the Ambassador of Lucid
Dreaming into being as a semi-fictional character.
I take on her role, work with photography, video,
and participatory performances.
2018/ MMI/ A DREAM OF A SPACE TO REST
Photo Series, C-Print, 87x69 CM, Matera
The work „A Dream of a Space to Rest” investigates the relationship
between structures of urban public space and the way passengers move
through this environment. Due to increasing development and commercialization,
there are barely any places left to rest which are not tied to specific institutions
and the compulsion to consume.
The Ambassador of Lucid Dreaming strays through the historical center of Matera
and tries to position her body again and again on ancient stones in a comfortable
posture.
